Media Training

Media training can help you develop spokespeople within your organization or prepare for an upcoming interview. Our on site half-day training is a small group session that walks the participants through a full spectrum approach to print, on-camera and radio interviews. The session ends with several videotaped practice scenarios to see how the participants operate under the pressure of on-camera interviews.

The half-day media training program is completely customized based on the number of people being trained. This program is for those who have never completed an interview and those who want to enhance their media interviewing skills. We also have an executive media training program that works with individual executives to better hone their skills in order to convey their company messages to analysts, journalists, employees and other stakeholder groups.

The program starts with the psychology of interviewing and how to see the interview through the eyes of the reporter. Next, we discuss the formal process for preparing for an interview and the internal network needed to gather information. We then walk through the methodology for developing key message points and learn techniques for getting your message across during the interview.

Finally, the program details the different types of interviews – print, radio and television – and prepares the participants for videotaped mock interviews conducted at the end of the session. Once finished, a full critique is completed of the mock interview for each participant.
